Business servers

A server in your office, built around your data.

We design, install and maintain compact servers that keep company files, backups and applications on your premises, redundant and always recoverable.

What a well-built server gives you

  • File server and NAS

One central place for company files, with folders and permissions per team instead of files scattered across laptops.

  • RAID redundancy

Data is written across several disks, so a failed drive means a replacement, not lost work.

  • Automated backups

Scheduled, versioned backups that follow the 3-2-1 rule, with one copy kept off-site.

  • Secure remote access

Encrypted VPN access so your team reaches office files from anywhere without exposing the server to the internet.

  • Virtualisation

Run accounting software, databases and business apps on one efficient machine, isolated from each other.

  • Monitoring and maintenance

Disk health, temperature and update checks, so problems are caught before they cause downtime.

Three copies. Two kinds of storage. One off site.

The rule every server we install follows. If a disk fails, a folder is deleted or ransomware strikes, there is always another copy to restore from.

  1. Copy 1, on site

    Office server

The copy your team works on every day, spread across redundant disks.

  2. Copy 2, separate storage

    Backup storage

A separate device keeping versioned snapshots, so deleted or encrypted files can be rolled back.

  3. Copy 3, off site

    Encrypted off-site copy

Stored in another location, out of reach of a fire, a theft or ransomware in the office.

How it works

  1. Assess

We look at how much data you have, how fast it grows and who needs access to what.

  2. Specify

We recommend hardware sized for your team, with room to grow and a clear budget.

  3. Install

We set up the server, migrate your files, configure backups and test a full restore.

  4. Maintain

We monitor the system, apply updates and handle repairs when they are needed.

Questions about business servers

If your team works mostly in the office with large files, a local server is faster and keeps data on site. If people work remotely, cloud is simpler. Many businesses combine both, and we can sync your server with a managed Nextcloud.

Most small businesses need less than they expect. We size storage for your current data plus a few years of growth, and choose hardware that can be expanded.

Your data sits on redundant disks and in backups, including an off-site copy. We restore service from the backups while the hardware is repaired or replaced.

Yes, through an encrypted VPN or a Nextcloud connected to the server. File shares are never exposed directly to the internet.

We recommend hardware suited to your needs and budget and handle the installation. Suitable equipment you already own can often be reused.
